Two-time Ironman world champion Chrissie Wellington, who Triathlete Magazine confirmed earlier today had parted ways with her coach, Simon Lessing, will be coaching herself for the foreseeable future.
“Chrissie and Simon decided they weren’t going to formally work together anymore, and she is just going to take control of her own program for now,” said Ben Mansford, Wellington’s manager. “She’s had a great season so far and she is incredibly excited about going out there in Hawaii and making history.”

After initial tests came back positive, all five athletes are cleared to run at world championships next week.
All five Jamaican sprinters that were told they tested positive for a banned substance during the Jamaican championships, have been cleared by the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission. The JADC says that they are unable to prove any violations of the drug policy had occured. The five athletes who are now clear to run at the Berlin world championships are Yohan Blake, Sheri-Ann Brooks, Allodin Fothergill, Lansford Spence and Marvin Anderson.

Boulder residents Tim O’Donnell and Julie Dibens walked away with wins at the 5430 Long Course Triathlon. Dibens’ own training partner, Chrissie Wellington, fell behind on the swim and the bike and just missed catching Dibens on the run to earn second.

Triathlete Magazine has confirmed that two-time Ironman world champion Chrissie Wellington has severed her coaching relationship with Simon Lessing.
“She’s going to have to figure out what she wants to do. You’ll need to ask her,” Lessing said in a phone interview. Lessing would not comment further.

German Irina Mikitenko will not be able to compete in front of her home crowd in Berlin.
Irina Mikitenko, 2009 London marathon champion, will be unable to run at the world championships in Berlin due to the death of her father. Mikitenko has the world’s best time in 2009 with her London victory mark of 2:22:11. The German star is the regining World Marathon Major champion, and may return to the distance in September at the real,- Berlin Marathon.
Without Mikitenko in the race it may mean that American Kara Goucher is one step closer to a podium spot in Berlin. The American distance star was third at Boston in 2009 and recently won the Rock ‘N’ Roll Chicago Marathon outright in 1:08:05.

American Rebecca Donaghue finishes a strong second on the women’s side.
Nineteen year-old Ethiopian Tilahun Regassa took the overall title at the 2009 Cigna Falmouth Road Race in Falmouth, Mass. Tilahun won in dominating fashion, even waving to the crowd mid-race, with a time of 31:41, good fourth fastest all-time. On the women’s side Ethiopian Mamitu Daska took the title in 36:23, improving upon her fourth place finish in 2008.

Russia emerged victorious from this weekend’s Tiszaujvaros ITU Triathlon World Cup men’s race in Hungary. In the women’s race, New Zealand’s Kate McIlroy made a successful from running events to take the title.
Taking four of the six medals on offer, the Russian team managed a clean sweep of the men’s podium as Dmitry Polyansky, Alexander Brukhankov and Ivan Tutukin went one-two-three whilst Irina Abysova took her first ever ITU Triathlon World Cup podium to collect silver in the women’s race.

A record number of youth elite and junior elite triathletes raced for national titles amid ideal weather conditions at the USA Triathlon National Junior Olympic Festival in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Saturday.
With a total of 181 athletes, representing close to 40 states, on the start lines for the four races, there was plenty of action and excitement for the friends, family and other spectators that gathered in Memorial Park.
