The Specialized 2010 Global Press Launch took place this past weekend at Snowbird Ski Resort in the Wasatch Mountain Range southeast of Salt Lake City. Sunday’s presentation concluded with three engineers seated in a row, faced with the task of addressing a room full of global media. Putting a bunch of protractor-wielding computer geeks on show is not typically the way a bike company puts its flashiest foot forward—it’s usually a slick marketing guy putting on the spin.

Australian Mirinda Carfrae won her third race in four weeks at the Iron Girl Atlanta sprint triathlon. She beat out a competitive field, with fellow Australians Pip Taylor, Michellie Jones and Kate Major, and Canadian Samantha McGlone all racing.

David Thompson and Rebeccah Wassner each scored their third victory in Philadelphia on Sunday over a record pro field at the Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon presented by Suzuki. Sunday’s Olympic-distance race capped off a weekend of multisport events including a sprint distance triathlon, two day multi sport expo, Kids Fun Runs and Kids Duathlon on Saturday.

Switzerland is on top of the world today after winning the 2009 Hy-Vee ITU Triathlon Team World Championships. The young Swiss team showed its speed by out kicking many of the sport’s veterans, including past and present Olympic and world champions.
